The Image of Tacoma - A Roundtable

Last night I did something for the first time – something a little different.  What was it?  I met with some readers of Exit133.  It was a little strange.  After being online for many years and launching this site in its current form early last year, I have never purposefully met with readers of my sites.

The goal of the evening was to discuss the state of Tacoma’s online presence.  Kevin from kevinfreitas.net, his wife, a few Exit133 commenters, and a friend all met at Mandolin Cafe on South 12th Street.  The questions we wanted to answer were: What can we do as a community to help new voices come online?  What’s out there now?  What’s coming next?  What can we do as the ‘publishers’ of small websites to improve the image of Tacoma?  We talked for about two hours and left with some pretty solid ideas.

Now I turn to you.  What keeps you from being online now?  Do you want a site of your own?  Maybe you don’t.  Would you like to be part of a larger site that has a ‘community’ of contributors?  Are you unsure how to start?

On a separate note – get ready for some fun.  We plan on getting Tacoma outside this Spring and Summer.  It’s time to build a new community.  More to come…
