About the artist
Matthew Scott was a Staff Sergeant in the Air Force and served for eight and a half years. He was deployed to Afghanistan following September 11, and after seeing nearly a year of combat, he left the military to travel and settled in Tacoma. Matthew began painting as a way to rehabilitate himself back and express his experiences.

I went to the The Lark on Thursday for the artist reception of this show. It literally took my breath away when I walked in. All Matthew Scott’s pieces are incredible. Lots of symbolism and detail keep you mesmorized for hours trying to figure out each piece’s true meaning. His use of bright and contrasting colors makes its hard to not literally touch every piece. I highly recommend checking out this artist’s work.

I’m no expert, but I agree, it’s a great collection. I was even very tempted to purchase. For the Lark to show such great, quality pieces that are within financial reach of so many is a great thing. Especially for those who always wanted to start a personal art collection.
(BTW, when I move I guess I’ll gave to be offbroadway)

I loved it.
I heard this guy’s only been painting for 2 years! Now that’s incredible. I think he should be charging double the prices listed.
