The Muse is Coming to Sixth Ave.

More coffee for Sixth Avenue? Splitting the difference between two Starbucks and within spitting distance of Shakabrah Java, The Muse is landing on Sixth Avenue in the old Rent-A-Center location … and they’re hiring. According to the website, The Muse will be open in October serving espresso and smoothies while providing a weekend all ages venue. Sounds intriguing.

Welcome to the neighborhood!

Nice! I was sad to see Shakabrah be closed evenings and no longer an all ages venue.
Now if The Muse would serve organic eggs for breakfast…..mmmm

Hope it works out. I was never a big fan of Shakabrah, but went there for the music (and even to play a few times). Hopefully the food and atmosphere is a little better. I look forward to giving it a try, and hitting up their Thursday open mic.

Add in the other things that Shakabrah is missing (free wifi, evening hours) and we might be onto something…

I’m happy to see the Rent-A-Center become something 6th Ave users might enjoy. Besides, we can’t get enough coffee.

and interesting enough, you don’t buy coffee, you just rent it.

That was such an ugly storefront, glad to hear it will (hopefully) become something attractive, and at least somewhat appropriate for the area.

I’m one of the few, the proud: the native Washingtonian who does not like coffee.

I’d love for once to see a nice little cafe go in, something much like I saw when I went to Paris 5 years ago… not just another coffee house. Sure, it’s better than the ugly RAC that was there.
But I’d still like to see something better. A little boulangerie, maybe?

The Muse is coming to 6th Avenue…That’s interesting. I’m picturing a decor that includes at least two busts. Say Socrates and his pupil Plato. You can’t have just one because as the saying goes, two heads are better than one. So maybe The Muse might consider changing its name to The Muses and thereby leave open the possibility of additional busts filling that cavernous shop.

Now, I suppose such a named place might attract real live muses too. So like say I’m havin’ a day where I just can’t get motivated and so I go to The Muses and get a shot of Yuban, and lo and behold there’s the sound of acoustic guitar and local news sung by a minstrel.

Another decor piece that I would like to see is an aquarium. I used to have one in my first apartment and man those little fishes and mini-sharks and frogs can really put your mind in a space.

Yeah, that’s the kind of theme I have in mind. Like a Romans 12 mind tweak—-Renew your mind. Renew your mind at The Muses.
