The Texans Are Coming

The City of Tacoma now counts several San Antonians among the ranks of City Hall employees.

Tacoma has always been a city of populations coming from other parts of the country and the world, and we welcome our new denizens from down south.

But we have to ask: is this influx of Texans changing the culture of the City?

It’s no secret that the Pacific Northwest and Texas have their cultural differences, and we have to wonder if those differences extend to attitudes and expectations of government.

City Manager Broadnax was hired as the best choice for the job, and he’s bringing in people he trusts to work with him. That seems fair. But should we be at all worried that some of the local of local government is being compromised? Or is a little new blood (or a lot) an unqualified good thing for Tacoma?
