Third Thursday: Embellish Celebrates the Art of Style

Third Thursday Art Walk, the monthly event that opens Tacoma’s museums and galleries to the public at no cost, is primarily a showcase for static exhibits. But Embellish Multispace Salon (1121 Ct. D, #A) aims to enhance Art Walk’s volume this Thursday with art that lives – the art of you.
From 6pm until 8pm, the salon will host a party showcasing spring fashion tips and tricks, giving away stylish gifts while a DJ provides suitable ambiance. Embellish certainly has reason to celebrate: the salon was featured in an AOL.com Hot in My Salon clip. They also contributed hair and makeup for both a billboard photo shoot and a six-page spring fashion spread in Showcase Magazine. New staff will be introduced to the public and 20% discounts on product purchases and bookings will be offered.
We are told that those who attend this unique showcase will receive inside information on The Volcano’s soon-to-be-revealed Happy Hour mobile app. I may not have a single luxuriant hair on my head, but I could certainly use more information about Happy Hour.

Can’t tell you how annoying these kind of articles are. We’ve got some big issues at hand… just got some relevant chatter going on about billboards, and exit133 pushes important issues further down with fluff stories about hair art. City corruption, no viable emergency evacuation plans… but no, let’s make the top story about fashion.

Dear Don Link,
Ever hear of
THE BETTER YOU LOOK, THE MORE YOU SEE?

I think the reason Exit133 is the most popular blog in T-Town is because it transends hard news, rumors and hot button issues to bring us slices of real life. Art and socializing are what makes discussing and fighting for everything else worth while.
The most clicked article on Exit133 last year was for the opening of a bar. Clearly, readers want to enjoy great events like this.

Thanks Marty. We care about our city, but we also like to have fun. You said it perfectly.

Looking forward to this event tonight to showcase Tacoma artist Lisa Kinoshita’s take on the 253heart in precious metals and stainless steel.
And for Don, just a crazy thought here my friend….skip past the article?…..

I’m too lazy to look, but how many regular writers were there in 2008? New writers and columns have been popping up in the past couple months, which is a great direction. More writers contributing regularly = more stuff getting covered.
And not to beat a dead horse, but seriously it isn’t a travesty to post “fluff” pieces about local events. Plenty of readers enjoy those articles, too.

We are on track for an average of 32.5 stories per month in 2011. I will concede that 2010 brought a lot of changes to Exit133, but I am doing my best to develop and begin partnerships within the community to drive content and development. We have a few things up our sleeves that we look forward to sharing with you all.

Will you be drawing a cartoon too Dan? I know you can.
