Time-Lapse: 520 Floating Bridge Pontoons Leave Tacoma

Did you catch the 520 floating bridge pontoons leaving Tacoma? The two floating blocks of concrete left Tacoma at about 7:30 last night, … The other four pontoons will be sent up to Seattle with the high tide this evening and again Wednesday evening.

These are the first six of 44 pontoons planned to be built on the Blair waterway through 2014. The floating concrete blocks measure roughly 100 feet long x 50 feet wide x 30 feet high.

It’s been a while since we’ve shared a good time-lapse video.
