Tour of Historic Tacoma Firestation

If you’re curious about old buildings, old fire stations, live-work spaces, or just generally nosy, you may want to consider the guided tour of Tacoma Firehouse No. 8 offered by Historic Tacoma this May.

Built in 1909 and decommissioned in 2003, the firehouse, which sits in the Whitman neighborhood, is now a private residence on top, and chocolate business on the ground level. Historic Tacoma is tying the tour to the recent conversation around the possibility of allowing for Tacoma landmarks to be used as live/work spaces. The building itself does not meet the requirements for that potential code change, but Historic Tacoma will also have information on the historic preservation Special Tax Valuation program.

When: Saturday, May 19, 4:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Where: Historic Firehouse #8 in the Whitman Neighborhood, 4301 South L Street
Cost: Free to Historic Tacoma members. Non-Members $10 at the door.
