Trattoria Grazie to Close

Way back when, in the early nineties, before Tacoma was the cool and hip place to live it is today, there was a very short list of restaurants in town that we could call ‘nice’.  One of those places was Grazie in old Town.  It was the classic parents-in-town-must-go-out-to-eat-instead-of-eating-ramen places.  It had its decent food and a huge pepper mill.  Way back when, they also had the cafe / deli on the first floor.  Then they closed the cafe in the mid-nineties and we never went back.  Oh well.

The News Tribune is reporting today that the owners have sold the building to a real estate company (because we need more of them around here) that will move its headquarters to Tacoma (we do need more of that).  The restaurant will be closed after a staff party on Sunday.  It’s a bummer to see any restaurant disappear entirely.

The survey didn’t identify much “popular support” for a new tax. The results were inconclusive.
