urbanXchange Getting Busy in 2006

UrbanXchange seems to have risen from nowhere to become downtown Tacoma’s music and fashion center.  Get your Filofax ready and jot down a few of these dates:

Rec’d via email:

This Thursday, October 19th numerous popular local garage bands will be playing a marathon of sets with a big expected turn out from the SOTA gang.  Bands include popular and talented Patience Please, transunion, racetrack and from Missoula: Victory Smokes.

Upcoming events include beautiful harmonies from “Tex” October 27th @7pm.  This band truly is for young and old showcasing sweet ballads and beautiful vocals.

Tuesday, October 31st, Cutter’s Point becomes “Cutter’s Lair”!  Where pirates run amok!  Halloween party with costume contest and other fun for all ages.  Highlight of the night is sure to be local designers showing off their craziest costume designs to outdo each other!

November 18th is the first ever, “Tacoma Indie Fashion Showcase”.  This amazing and unique event will include a theatrical show themed “House of Kubla Kahn at Indochine with a live DJ, tribal belly dancer and male courtisans accompanying the models who will wear designs from Local fashionistas and Seattle’s I heart rummage design divas.  After the 4pm show there will be a designer reception @ urbanXchange at 5pm (Make a reservation – Seating at 3pm).

To cap off the upcoming events December 1st @ 7pm urbanXchange presents the band “Ghosts and Liars” in from NY and featuring lead singer of the now defunct popular local group “some by sea”. if you haven’t heard this guy in person you have really missed a treat.  Grammy quality voice that sends chills.  (check it out -though recording does not do his voice justice-definetely an “instrument” that has to be experienced in person… at www.myspace.com/ghostsandliars or www.myspace.com/somebysea

In the works: building a stage in urbanXchange to showcase these great talents properly!
