UWT or Private Development?

From the News Tribune comes a story about Shauna Walker’s offer to buy a 6 acre parcel of land in downtown for a mixed use development. Her offered was refused, however, as the city plans to hold the land for UWT. Hmmm… All I have to say is that Tacoma really needs basic services and reasonable affordable housing (I’m tired of luxury condos targeted at type a business types, downsizers, and retirees). I don’t know if the brewery district plans these developers have in mind are what we need, but I’m also skeptical of the city’s ‘plan’ to hold back land from development. Very curious.
