Voelpel Enters the Tree Debate
Following on the heels of David Boe’s column that suggests we move Tacoma’s Christmas tree, Dan Voelpel echoes the sentiment. His column on Sunday even cites YOU – the commenters on this site … we just thought you should know.

Suh-weet, that’s pretty cool.
It’s so nice to see the Tribune actually writing about something that is located in Tacoma (besides the crime reports, that is).

Dan has a good article.
The question of the location of the tree depends on the goal intended.
If the goal is to have the tree visible by the most autos going by, Tollefson is the best location.
On the other hand, if the tree lighting ceremony is deemed important and the enjoyment of the tree by pedestrians and to beautify the business district, then the current location is the best.
I don’t see why there cannot be two trees, one for shoppers to enjoy and one for the traffic on Pacific. Its a needless debate.

Erik, I’m shocked – You’re forgetting the “third” tree.

(…and one could include the ones in Stadium and Proctor, et al.)

Can’t we have an atheists billboard next to the tree this year too? Olympia gets one. not fair.
