Voelpel on Finding A Revolutionary Vision

Dan Voelpel writes today about a report, circa 1942, developed by a group of citizens and backed by the mayor to define the future of the city.  Parking.  A growing population.  Attracting a skilled population.  The need for more hotels.  None of the recommendations should be a surprise.

It’s an interesting time to live in Tacoma.  We’re on the cusp of something, but I don’t quite know what it is.  It does seem, however, that everybody is trying to help define that something and help the city become something new.  The new downtown residents, business owners, developers, and the city government all have ideas.  The challenge now is to find our local champions to move these visions forward.  How do we focus that energy and develop a vision that we can all follow.

Where do we go next?  I’m here to help.

This is one of the best articles I’ve read in Tacoma in a while. It would be cool to see a local profile like this weekly. Thank you Exit 133.

I am happy to see articles like this, Chris deserves more than Tacoma fame. He has worked hard for his art and done an amazing job at creating a consistent look. He’s also an all-around nice guy. Nice work Sharp

I am such a Chris Sharp fan. I want Chris to strike it big because I think his art deserves a wider audience. I love seeing it for free around town (on signs). And I really miss the old Corina Bakery sign.

    Nice job, Derek

I really want to hate Chris Sharp but damn he’s such a nice guy. Makes it hard.

If you can’t buy art, trade art.
