Volunteer to Serve on the Tacoma Arts Commission
Do you care about the arts? Love Tacoma? Want to see the arts flourish in your city? Have some skill related to arts programs and policy? Then the City may have a spot for you on the Tacoma Arts Commission.
The City of Tacoma is seeking applicants committed to fostering the arts in Tacoma to serve on the Tacoma Art Commission’s 15 member, City Council-appointed board. The Commission is tasked with providing leadership in supporting and enhancing the arts for the benefit of the city and its residents. Its purpose is to develop, support, coordinate sponsoring and/or presenting the arts on a year-round basis for the benefit of the residents of Tacoma. To this end the Commission creates policies to support the ongoing development of arts programs and projects in Tacoma, including the funding of artists and arts organizations to provide services for the citizens of Tacoma, and oversight of the Municipal Art Program.
Citizen volunteer commission members serve three year terms; meetings take place on the second Monday of the month at 5:00 p.m. To ensure consideration, applications are due no later than Monday, October 12, 2012. To apply, contact Cindy DeGrosse, Mayor’s Office, (253) 594-7848, or visit the City of Tacoma’s Committees, Boards, and Commissions page for an application.
