Volunteer With the WA Bicycle and Pedestrian Documentation Project
It’s nearly that time of year again: time for the annual count of bicyclists and pedestrians on our roadways. WSDOT and the Cascade Bicycle Club are looking for volunteers to help conduct the census again this year on September 25, 26, and 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.
The count helps WSDOT understand how people are using the roads, information that informs decision-making going forward. Counting bicycles and pedestrians at a number of specific locations helps estimate demand, measure the benefit of investment, and design future projects. With the information, WSDOT can target safety and mobility projects and improve traffic models.
So, who’s in?

The planning at WSDOT is going to depend on a census of bicyclists conducted by other bicyclists. That ought to be accurate. hahahaha

If I drive to the counting station instead of walking or riding my bike, will that help me count more accurately?

It doesn’t say you have to like bikes to volunteer – it looks like anyone could sign up, regardless of their views on transportation.
