Wall Standoff Heading Toward Resolution?

The News Tribune is reporting that we may be close to a resolution in the Washington State History Museum / City of Tacoma SOS donor wall debacle.  The potential fix was mentioned in yesterday’s City Council study session.  The idea is that Century Park would move from between the History Museum and the Federal Courthouse to Tollefson Plaza across the street.  The site where the wall was going up would become an iron fence once again.

I see this as a very positive development.  Some may argue that the fence is still a problem.  Yet, it gets us past the existing stalemate.  Debating public access and the ‘right thing to do’ becomes much more difficult once the brick and mortar dries.

The deal’s not done yet, but at least people are talking.

    Nice.

    while saving your hard-earned $$$ is pivotal during a severe recession, come Christmas some things get bought.

    I’d rather give my $ to fellow Tacomans and small businesses than some corporate oligarchy (I’m talking to you, Walmart).

    -> Bring on the suggestions!

    I’m giving everyone locally grown, organic produce this year with a gift delivery from Spud!

    Quick!
    Let the collective brainpower of the Tacoma-Hive-Mind solve a problem…

    My sister wants perfume for Christmas. Anyone know a local shop with reasonably priced perfumes?
    Heck, locally-produced perfumes would be even better!

    Don’t listen to the naysayers who say it is boring! I’m relatively new and am always looking for cool stores to spend my $$ at year round but I also figure that if I’m hauling gifts home on an airplane (and paying the obscene baggage fees they said were due to fuel prices but kept even after fuel prices plummeted…) I at least want to be taking unique local things that they can’t get there.
