Washington State DAHP Seeks Nominations for Outstanding Achievements in Historic Preservation
Who do we know in Tacoma who has “achieved distinction in the field of historic preservation?”
The Washington state Department of Archaeology and Historic Preservation (DAHP) is seeking nominations for the 22nd Annual Awards for Outstanding Achievements in Historic Preservation. Categories for nomination include: historic preservation planning, historic property rehabilitation projects, career achievement, public education, stewardship, special achievement and media, and a new category this year: Cemetery Achievement.
Nominations are due to DAHP by Friday, March 9, 2012 at 5 p.m. Previous Tacoma recipients of the awards include the Stadium High School renovation project, the Rialto Theater project, the MLK HDA, Hilltop revitalization projects, the Blue Mouse Theater, TV Tacoma, Todd Matthews of The Daily Index, Peter Callaghan of The News Tribune, and more. What projects, individuals or groups can we add to that list this year?
For more information, and to make a nomination, visit the DAHP website.

I hereby nominate for consideration the locally-conscious corvine promoters of historic preservation, “Ocryx and Joe”.
For the past three years, this pair of feathered friends has been promoting the necessity of historic preservation using the well known “Feed>>Tacoma” electronic forums as a sounding board.
Sincerely,
AvM
