Wayzgoose: Celebrating the strenuously printed word

As a fringe member of Tacoma’s communicative and artistic community, Exit133 was compelled to pay a visit to the 7th annual Wayzgoose this afternoon at Kings Books. As is the case with most of our obligations, the pleasure was all ours. We made our own Beautiful Angle poster, chatted with representatives from CLAW and watched a steamroller produce art. We also browsed booths teeming with some of the most compelling and thought-provoking letterpress and book arts we’ve ever seen.

Enough of our words. Here are some photos for you to peruse while you reminisce about your own Wayzgoose experience – or commit to attending next year.

Tacoma Arts in Review attended a panel discussion about Tacoma’s letterpress and book arts movement prior to this year’s Wayzgoose. You can read it here.

Note from Dan: I have a confession. I have never found a Beautiful Angle poster. I am an avid runner. I have several friends who have more than one Beautiful Angle poster. I follow Beautiful Angle on Twitter. I receive their press releases in my gmail inbox. If acquisition of Beautiful Angle posters depended upon any sort of Darwinian principles, I would be (metaphorically speaking) a shark. My ineptitude as a dialed-in Tacoman was made painfully evident to me the moment I began inking my first and only Beautiful Angle poster.

What a great event! Thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put this on for the community. I saw several artists from out of town… maybe this becomes a “go-to” letterpress/bookmaking event in the Northwest. Just maybe.
