Weekend Arts Preview, Feb 7 - 10

Something for everyone …

Performing Arts
Kicking us off this weekend in the performing arts world is the Acting Company’s performances of The Tempest at the Theatre on the Square. Performances are Friday and Saturday. Showtimes and ticket info are info here.

Also in performing arts is The Vagina Monologues Saturday night at Pantages. This was a big event last year. More info.

Live Music
In the music scene, Oh Voices is performing at UrbanExchange Saturday night at 8:30 pm. Here’s their myspace page.

Also, Kimya Dawson (most known for her songs on the Juno soundtrack, will be at the Grand Cinema Sunday.

And if you’re into the bigger hits of 90s, Smashmouth is at the EQC. Remember “Hey Now, You’re An All-Star?” Yeah. If you still can’t get enough of that song, that’s the place to be Saturday night.

The Written Word
The Karpeles Manuscript Museum has writings from the early first ladies (no one after Eleanor Roosevelt is included).

And the museums, of course! Stamps, glass, portraits, and Renoir. Get out this weekend!

Sunday is also the second one of the month, which means it’s free concert in the Wright Park Conservatory day, 1PM-2:30PM.

I’m disappointed no one has reported back on how the Smashmouth concert went. (Kidding.)
