Weekend Arts Preview, Jan 25 - 27
There are a couple things we’d like to call out for the upcoming weekend.
First, there’s just about a month left on the Art of the Stamp exhibit at the Washington State History Museum. This exhibit features 100 small works of original art, which were used to create postage stamps, including the artwork for the “Elvis” stamp, the most popular US stamp ever.
The new “Renoir at Printmaker” exhibit is open at TAM. This rare exhibit shows another side to Renoir. Check out Exit133’s review by PLU professor Heather Mathews.
In performing arts, Urinetown at Tacoma Musical Playhouse continues its run. The musical is a satirical jab at classic broadway musicals.
The Tacoma Symphony is hosting a tribute to Benny Goodman Saturday afternoon at 2:30 with special guests the Dave Bennett Septet (umm…that means there’s seven of them, right?).
After the symphony, you’ll still have time to swing on by to the Emerald Queen Casino to see Blue Oyster Cult. We’re pretty sure they’ll play Don’t Fear the Reaper, and you know what that means … More Cowbell!
