Weekend Arts Preview, Nov 16 - 18

As we mentioned last week, local playwright Rosalind Bell’s play “The New Orleans Monologues” is at UPS for its final weekend.

If poetry’s your thing, Glenis Redmond is performing at the Theatre on the Square Friday night in partnership with Tacoma Art Museum and their Gee’s Bend quilt exhibit (which is, of course, open this weekend as well.)

In dance, MOVE! has performes Friday night and twice Saturday at the SOTA Theatre on Broadway. Featuring NorthWest Dance Syndrome, Josh Rizeberg & Free Ya Mind Productions, Joel Myers & Lisa Fruchiante, Metro Parks Dance, and MLKBallet’s Student Company. Tickets are $14 and are available here

We would also like to plug the new show at The Helm called Don’t Be Absurd which opened last night for ArtWalk. There’s some fascinating photography and some crazy drawings.

This weekend is also the next in the Northwest Sinfonietta’s Beethoven Revealed series. We reviewed the first in their series earlier this year and Saturday night promises to me more of the same.

Enjoy your weekend out! Theater, poetry, dance, art, music … you can’t beat it.
