Weekend Arts Preview, Nov 9 - 11
We have to start by mentioning Rosalind Bell, a Tacoma writer whose play “The New Orleans Monologues” open at UPS this weekend. Bell also wrote “Tootie Pie” a short film shot in Tacoma that played at the Seattle International Film Festival in 2005.
Friday night the 100th Monkey video by David Derickson will play at Commencement Bay Coffee with a retrospective of
Monkey Tiles, and no-host coffee and desserts. 7 – 9 pm.
Previously on Exit133
Sunday is the Tacoma Fashion Carnival at 21 Commerce, starting at 4:00 (reservations recommended, doors open at 3). Tickets are $12. Experience the independent fashion world of Tacoma and the Northwest as artists exhibit their work in a Circus Carnival of Fashion. Designer open house to follow at UrbanXchange, 1934 Pacific Avenue, 5:30 – 8 pm.
And finally, it’s not exactly arts, but Warren Miller’s travelogues/promotional videos about extreme skiing runs Saturday and Sunday at the Pantages Theater with three shows. If you’ve ever been to one of the films, you’ll know what an odd experience it is. But it’s jam-packed with lots of freebies.
Enjoy your weekend out on the town!
