Weekend Preview: free naked rock time
Well it is that time of the month again.
The third Thursday Artwalk around downtown Tacoma is set for tonight. All the usual suspects will open their doors so visitors won’t have to open their wallets from 5 to 8 p.m. The few dozen shops, museums and member galleries will have special events of all sorts as a way to bring art has culture to the masses.
One such standout gallery opening tonight can be found at the Brick House Gallery, where artists will explore their definition of “NAKED.” Look at some interesting “naked” art, grub on some nosh, sip some wine and listen to Andrew Sherbrooke do his guitar thing.
SHAMELESS PLUG ALERT: I am a first tenor in a Tacoma-based community choir called Sonoro. The group has a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Renton Civic Theatre. The concert will feature choral versions of classic rock songs from Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, Santana, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and Elton John. This will be a rare opportunity to see a music and theater reviewer take to a stage in an effort to put up or shut up.
Bring your best shots and prepare to rock.
