Weekend Preview: Meat Lovers
Tacoma may want to put on airs every now and then, but it is still a working-class town. Now the Gruv Lounge is bringing back an effort to celebrate those who work outside the nine-to-five world.
It’s After-Hours effort features a breakfast and after-hours menu that runs from 2 a.m. to 7 a.m. Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Try the country-fried bacon.
For some entertainment less for the night owl set, the “Zombie Tacomapocalypse” art show will be unleashed at Amocat Café Friday night. Go for the brains – the juicy, spongy, meaty, delicious brains – or maybe a cocktail and conversation.
For those inclined towards such things, the Big Wheel Steakhouse will be hosting a Las Vegas-style male revue strip show Saturday night. Just don’t ask “where’s the beef?” That would be wrong.
And with the famous groundhog seeing his shadow, Spring will come early this year. Maybe it will even start this weekend since the forecast calls for some sun.

Can we please stop with the “working class” versus “putting on airs” stuff? We’re a city like any other — it takes all kinds.

This would have been an awesome “lunch” spot when I worked those midnight shifts! If you didn’t bring anything to eat, you had your choice of vending machine food or going hungry.
