Weekend Preview: movie lovin’
Just in time for Valentine’s Day budget movies about love gone wrong will rule this weekend at venues around Tacoma.
First on the roster is “My Bloody Valentine,” playing Friday and Saturday nights at the Grand Cinema as part of its Late Night Horror series. This movie straight from 1981 plays off a legend of a murderer killing all those who celebrate the day of lovers.
Saturday will bring a screening of The Making of JourneyQuest and a talk with the cast and creative team behind this cult hit series at Tacoma Little Theatre. The show is another film effort from Matt Vancil, the writer and director of sleeper hits “The Gamers” and “Dorkness Rising.” Those films follow the tales of role-playing gamers as they do their thing through life and gaming.
And then Sunday night brings Tacoma Cult Movie Club’s showing at the Acme Grub Cage of vintage educational films about the horrors of sexually transmitted diseases.
With all these movies of love gained and lost, you might need to at least take a shower before your Valentine’s Day date.

I’m surprised the Yelpers didn’t give Tacoma Screw on Center street higher ratings.
