Weekend Preview: music, comedy, theater

This will be a week of different things.

First on the to-do list this weekend is Sherrie Vox Minter’s birthday party at Jazzbones tomorrow night. As the front woman for Voxxy Vallejo, she will mark another year with selection of her tunes along with Big Wheel Stunt Show, comedy by Toby Roberts and live art by Gregory Fricker starting at 8 p.m. Special guests Doug Mackey and Don Swensen will also be sitting in with Voxxy Vallejo. Expect odd-ball fun and great local music.

On the comedy scene is the birth of another comedy club in T-town. The creatively named Tacoma Comedy Club at Sixth and Tacoma will be holding a soft opening Friday and Saturday with Sean Anderson and Kane Holloway heading up the set. Showtimes at 8 p.m. Friday and at 8 p.m. and at 10 p.m. Saturday for just $12 online.

Tacoma Little Theatre has teamed up with The Outfit Theater Project to stage “Joe’s Diner” for a one-night only benefit for TLT programs Friday night. This comedy of random thinking will also have a special appearance by Matt Vancil of Dead Gentlemen Productions.

Toss in some adult Dodgeball on Saturday afternoon at Franklin Park and all is well with the world.
