Weekend preview: shaking, rattling and rolling

Now that the sun has set in for the summer, people are looking for places indoors to get out of the heat. Go figure.

One place with fans and fun is Tacoma Musical Playhouse for “All Shook Up,” which opens tomorrow. The show runs Fridays at 8 p.m., Saturdays at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. and Sundays at 2 p.m. through Aug. 1. The show is inspired by the songs of Elvis Presley and is set during the summer of 1955, when a young woman in a small Midwest town dreams of hitting the road. Enter from stage left a black-jacketed, rock-and-roll-loving motorcyclist who’s bike is in need of repair. Trouble ensues as the entire town is turned upside-down by the presence of this rebel.

For something a bit harder, The No Bullshit Battle Of The Bands series kicks off at Hell’s Kitchen at 9 p.m. tonight with ear-bleeding music on the list through the weekend.

More family friendly fun can be found at “Delightfully Dangerous,” a night of juggling, magic and physical theatre at Lakewood Playhouse  Saturday night. The show will have

Geoff Kanick, an up and coming South Sound performer, combining magic, jugglingand a classically reinvented performance laced with humor and packed with drama.

Whether you want rock and roll, head banging or slight of hand, inside spot around you have what you are looking for, air conditioning.
