Weekend Review: Big-time Big Band

Gotta love a sax solo.

Tacoma Jazz and Blues Festival didn’t disappoint Saturday, with three stages of time-tested classics from the war years and beyond.

Bands took over Freighthouse Square, Harmon Pub and Eatery and The Stonegate for a parade of saxophones, upright basses and trumpets aplenty.

While most of the crowd came from the ranks of the social security payroll, there were a few youngsters cutting the rug the way their grandparents did during the middle of the last century.

Good music, no matter what the age, has a tendency of doing that.
