Weekend Review: drink this
Tacoma Musical Playhouse’s Youth Musical Theater Camp delivered big with its staging of “Alice in Wonderland,” a song-and-dance musical version of the Disney classic.
All the great characters are there, Alice, the Mad Hatter and the head-hunting Queen of Hearts. Tops on the list of fun characters was the Caterpillar, played by Maya McDonald. Fun stuff.
Next on the theater’s stage will be “Flower Drum Song,” the Rodgers and Hammerstein work that is making its rounds again. This adaptation follows the story of Mei-Li as she flees Mao’s communist China after the murder of her father and finds herself in San Francisco’s Chinatown.
The show runs at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sundays through May 9.
