Weekend Review: Film Flam
While the economy around the South Sound continues to recover for the most part, the local film indie film world is going strong. That’s what I spent much of my time with this weekend.
The filming phase of A Perfect Life ended with a wrap party and trailer viewing Saturday night at the Hub, marking the beginning of the laborious editing work that will run through the rest of the year.
Writer and director Chad Ruin, actor/producer Joe Rosati and producer Scott Stone, are now hard at work trimming down the story of a homeless man who wishes for the “perfect life,” after he lived and lost it. The film trailer lasted just three or so minutes, but gave a glimpse at the style and energy of the movie to come. The locally written, cast and shot movie promises to be great.
But that is not the only film in the works involving Tacoma.
Jesus4Less, a shoestring indie film is about half shot, with a converted storefront across from the Pantages Theater serving as its main set. Director Aaron Flett is working the cast most days as he seeks to tell the story of a gaggle of discount Christian book dealers that faces competition and troubles from religious folks nearby.
The show often makes a call for extras to serve as book store custmers and background folks of all sorts, so if you wanna be in a film, follow the production schedule on Facebook.
