Weekend Review: Heart of Tacoma
There are a lot of reasons I love Tacoma.
Aaron Grissom is one of them. He is the chef at Gruv Lounge, and I enjoy his spirit, his love for the craft of food and this grand munchies he creates. I noshed on some of his eats this weekend while at a birthday party there.

While trying desperately to not make this a food review, the Chicken Fried Bacon was divine. But getting to watch him make crafted S’mores was just fun. Three hours of work goes into making the Graham crackers, chocolate and hand-crafted marshmellows for a guy with no formal training in food. He earned his stripes first at Proctor’s Pomodoro Italian Restaurant & Bar followed by a stint at Il Fiasco Restaurant & Bar, Jazzbones and Chambers Bay before going out on his own
“I just decided to go out on a limb,” he said. “I wanted to do my own thing.”
He strives to keep his ingredients as local, un-processed and unpackaged as possible. It is not only a “green thing” he wanted to do, but also something he wanted to stress as a way to explore the craft of making food.
He has succeeded.
Also on my things done this weekend was a stint to see Voxxy Vallejo at “SAX on 6th”:http://www.saxon6th.com.
Gosh, I love this band. It’s heart and spirit, and talent and energy as it belts out stormy guitar riffs and power vocals were just fun from first strum to final bow.
Yes Virginia, Tacoma has a heart. And it can be found in people like Aaron Grissom, Gene Vellejo and Sherrie Voxx Minter.

I’m not telling you anything your mama hasn’t been trying to tell you your whole entire life.

At a certain point it just becomes a bore. Most likely, no one reads it anymore. The writing style is recognized and it’s skipped.

low bar: It wasn’t your fault.

one could trot out the “old as the first webboard” argument: “If you hate the content so much, why don’t you read something better?” But that would be cliche.
As a writer, it’s hard to take seriously comments which suggest that the approach and content should be revised holistically. For a volunteer job done in our spare time during breaks at work or in the evening, I tend to consider the suggestions and criticisms of those who actually find value in our work — especially since they will continue to make use of it.

I always liked the creative imagery. I loved the quip about hipster chicks and snail tracks. But I have a soft spot for differently saned people

I guess I’m just cool. low bar, do you offer classes?
In the mean time, please keep posting this kind of stuff. For me, it is the only way I find out about these places.
