Weekend Review: ready for a close up

The drive to perform is genetic. My daughter proves that point. She has been in more than a dozen shows and concerts during the 11 years she has been on the earth. And now she has a film credit.

Jesus-4-Less is continuing its filming at its downtown storefront that has been made up to be a Christian bookstore. I spent the weekend with the offspring on the set, working as extras and absorbing the film atmosphere in our roles as bookstore customers.

The film centers on the stories of the bookstore as it competes with Christ-Mart, a rival in the bible business. Toss in protests, ta-tas, homosexuality, a midget and the face of Jesus in a piece of toast, and you get the idea of the comedy that is this film. But for now, it is still filming, which means that anyone has a chance of being in the film by just following the film’s shooting schedule and showing up on time. It is not a bad way to spend an afternoon, all things considered.
