Weekend review: Tacoma oddities

Gosh I love this town. While some folks see a provincial small town, I see one where artists do their own thing and support each other.

The third Thursday Artwalk around downtown Tacoma last week was just one of those times. All the usual suspects did their thing over poo-poos and boxed wine as a way to bring art has culture to the masses. And that they did.

The Brick House Gallery,  didn’t disappoint with its exploration of “NAKED.” The show is still open for those wanting a look.

Tacoma’s music incubator, The New Frontier Lounge, hosted Dandy & Grotesque: A Celebration of Caricature over the weekend. Tacoma’s Catherine Gerlach teamed up to create an show that embodied the essence of caricature by dressing in black and white. The night also featured performances by Paris Spleen, Mun~eca, and Brave Faces.

In the shameless plug arena, the Sonoro. concert in Renton went well as it rocked its choral versions of classic rock songs from Queen, Journey, Michael Jackson, Santana, Eric Clapton, Billy Joel and Elton John.
