Weekend Review: Tacoma's quirky family

One thing that makes Tacoma fun is that it is a small, very quirky… but still loving family when it comes down to it.

The love ‘o meter got a topping off at Sherrie Vox Minter’s birthday party at Jazzbones Friday. Not only did she do her thing at her own party as the pipes for Voxxy Vallejo, but other musicians from around the 253 gather to give her the hey-hey and the what-what.

Big Wheel Stunt Show headlined the night along side comedy by Toby Roberts and live art by Gregory Fricker. Doug Mackey played the skins for Voxxy and managed to bump his head during a digger from the top of his drum kit… Silly white boy.

The soft opening of Tacoma Comedy Club went extremely well. The club was almost at capacity for the three shows Friday and Saturday night headlined by Sean Anderson and Kane Holloway. But a more telling stat is that some 90 tickets have already been sold for this weekend’s slate of comedians.

Oh the fun.
