Welcoming the Tacoma Sun
Here’s something interesting. Morgan Alexander, Erik Bjornson, and Andrew Austin, regular online contributors and active real world participants, have created an online publication called the Tacoma Sun. It uses blogging software, but the content is more magazine-style, with submissions from other writers and more in-depth columns.
From the Sun:
Our hope for Tacoma Sun is for the newspaper to be able to discuss issues in some depth such as urban design which can create an walkable, environmentally friendly and inclusive city in a pro-active manner rather just in reaction to the latest press release or building proposal. Our built environment has the potential to create a public realm which civic life can flourish.
We’re looking forward to the upcoming “issues” and maybe someday a print edition.
Good luck, gentlemen.

Good luck, gentlemen.
Thanks. We are going to try to get a wide range of contributors. Should be interesting and fun.

Remember: The first rule of magazine layout—-BIG photo then skimpy copy.

Thank you exit133!
We started the Sun with the idea that there’s room in Tacoma focused journal that looks at things that make Tacoma unique: its people, businesses and neighborhoods. Tacoma has a deep history to pull from, but the story is far from over. Things are just starting to get interesting again! We hope to explore stories that link our past to our future and welcome everyone along for the ride.
Cheers!

Yo Yo Yo, the “big” photo is gonna come together like a mega jigsaw puzzle. Right now all we can see is one jagged piece and we don’t know if we’re lookin’ at part of a blue fender from a ’63 Ford pick-up or are we lookin’ at the sky lit by the Tacoma sun.
Your imagination just might take you by surprise…

Morgan – Tacoma is getting better and better by the minute. Very glad you launched.
I might be blind (caused by all this sunshine no doubt) but I could not find a “contact us” link on your website. How do we send thoughts?
