Wells Fargo to Relocate Main Branch

More changes are afoot on Pacific Avenue. The latest is a new main branch location for Wells Fargo.

You may have noticed some activity, including "Wells Fargo Coming Soon" signs, around the old Vinum space at 10th and Pacific.

The Tacoma Daily Index reports that Wells Fargo confirms the two-block move of its main banking location from Wells Fargo Plaza at 12th and Pacific to the new space at 10th and Pacific, but won't offer more details until next week.

The Wells Fargo Plaza property manager wouldn't get much more specific, but according to the Index, there aren't plans for a name change.

“Today we don’t have any comment on this item. I can say that the building is and will remain named Wells Fargo Plaza.”

So, although there's not much information available, it does look like there will at least be some commercial space available in the mezzanine of Wells Fargo Plaza. What would look good in that space?

Update (1/31/14): The News Tribune reports that Wells Fargo will be keeping the mezzanine of the Wells Fargo Plaza, so it looks like any dreams of new uses will stay dreams, at least for now.

I would like to see a downtown mall on the large vacant lot across 13th and the first two floors (or more?) of the Wells Fargo building as a department store.

Likely shopping in downtown will not return during my lifetime.
