When is a North Tacoma home, not a North Tacoma home?

How does this listing begin?

Tremendous value in this recently renovated turn of the century North Tacoma home…

Yep.  $184k is a great value in the North End.  But when the buyer realizes they’re about one block south of the KFC on Sprague, they might realize they aren’t in the North End anymore.  I find it curious that with all the rules that realtors must work around when describing a house, the correct location isn’t one of the rules.  Saying someplace is near North End can sometimes work.  This one is completely wrong.

On the other hand, It’s great to see a home remodeled with a fresh coat of paint, but whoever picked these colors and remodeled the place should seek some professional help.  Highlighting the fake window shutters with a fresh coat of paint just kills me.  This neighborhood could be full of gorgeous historically accurate remodels…

“Based on this work, the Commission makes recommendations to the City Council.”

Where the council will gloss over or otherwise the ignore the recommendations. Example: the planning commission has repeatedly endorsed the city billboard ordinance and yet we still have dozens of non-conforming billboards all over town.

Fred, let me make sure I have got this right. You want a non-elected commission of appointees to have final say on land use regulations that directly impact property values and development potential?

No David, I was thinking perhaps the city council could just perform the tasks that are currently assigned to the planning commission.
