Where's On The Market?
I’ve received several emails lately asking where my ‘on the market’ postings have gone. Well, it’s been hard. It used to be that something reasonably affordable in a desirable or semi-desirable neighborhood showed up in my inbox every few days. Now… not so much. It’s not that there aren’t deals out there. It’s just that I need to reset my expectations as to what’s affordable. When 1000 square foot condos are averaging $3xx,000 – we’ll just say that this is not the Tacoma of a few years ago.
If you’re looking for a house, send me an email with your price range and I’ll keep that in mind as I begin to reconsider what I post in this series. To all those folks that have asked me to keep an eye out for homes in the North End for under $250k… I’m working on it. On the other hand, if you’re looking for a reasonably fixed up home with fossils in the kitchen counters, a whole house sound system, and you have a decent nest egg, this is one sweet house .
On the plus side, for those folks looking, the next year might be good for you as prices soften. Also, this New Yorker article has an interesting analysis on historical housing prices. We’ll see.
