W.W. Seymour Conservatory Centennial

The W.W. Seymour Botanical Conservatory is celebrating its centennial this week. The conservatory opened in 1908, just one year after the Metropolitan Park District of Tacoma was formed as the first independent park agency in Washington State.
The twelve-sided dome, with more than 3,000 panes of glass, are home to the conservatory’s collection of more than 250 plant species.
Participate in the Fun Run and receive a centennial t-shirt, learn about your favorite plants, and have the chance to plant a lemon seed from the conservatory’s popular Lemon Tree.
Events Schedule
Green Thumb Run and Kids Dash starts at 9:00 a.m. On-site registration begins at 7:00 a.m. and costs $10.
From 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. docents will be on hand to answer questions at Inside the Conservatory, a self-guided tour, and experience what it was like to play in the park during the early 1900s as you try your hand at period games like lawn bowling, horseshoes, and croquet.
Maybe we could bring our bocce set?
