Yard Care Discounts!

Many government agencies are coming together to offer some great discounts on yard care products that are better for your yard. Northwest Natural Yard Days, a regional program supporting natural yard care practices, invites you to “Kick the chemicals and go natural”. From April 15 to May 15, local retailers are discounting environmentally friendly yard care products.

Participating Pierce County retailers:

• Ace Hardware (Gig Harbor, Lakewood, Spanaway)
• GardenSphere (Tacoma)
• Lowe’s (Lakewood, Puyallup, Tacoma)
• McLendon Hardware (Puyallup, Sumner)
• Windmill Gardens (Sumner)

Discounted natural products include; mulching mowers and push-reel mowers, bagged compost, bark mulch, weed pullers, organic lawn fertilizer, non-toxic moss control and slug bait, insecticidal soap, soaker hoses, and watering wands.

On a similar note – FREE gas mower turn-in April 26-27 for City and County residents.

Make room for a new mulching mower by recycling your old gas mower for free April 26 through 27. Tacoma and Pierce County residents can recycle gas mowers from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the City of Tacoma Recycling Center (Tacoma Landfill, 3510 S. Mullen St.).

Gas mowers spew harmful pollutants into the air. According to the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency, using a gas-powered lawn mower for one hour creates as much pollution as driving 140 miles.
