"You Can't Win" Filming in Tacoma - Update

Update: The News Tribune has some behind-the-scenes details on the filming of “You Can’t Win” in and around Tacoma, including a little more on how Old City Hall is being used. Oh, and it sounds like film crews will be back in Tacoma next week – this time at Camp 6.

If you live or work in downtown Tacoma – at least near us at Suite133 – this was a wee bit hard to miss. Film crews have descended on the area around Old City Hall to film You Can’t Win through Thursday. The movie, directed by Robinson Devor and staring Michael Pitt, is based on Jack Black’s 1926 autobiography. (No, not that Jack Black.)

From Variety.com:

Black’s bestselling novel tells of his experiences in the hobo underworld, freight-hopping around the Western U.S. and Canada while he explores the topics of crime, addiction, criminal justice and human folly from various viewpoints. William S. Burroughs cited “You Can’t Win” as an extremely influential book in his life, and it was among his inspirations for his 1953 semi-autobiographical novel “Junkie.”

Expect to see actors and crew through Thursday. It’s always fun to see Tacoma landmarks pop up in movies, especially landmarks as memorable as Old City Hall. Has anyone caught a glimpse of the lights/cameras/action yet?
