Zipcar Comes to Tacoma

Zipcar is in Tacoma. Today representatives from the car-sharing company will be in Tollefson Plaza for their Tacoma launch party until 2:00 p.m. with information and cars, as well as giveaways and sign-up deals.

The four display Zipcars are the same car models that will live in downtown Tacoma soon, including the Zipcar-For-Business, Zipcar-For-Adventure, Zipcar-For-Shopping, and Zipcar-For-Students. If you’ve been by the Starbucks at 11th and Pacific, you may also have noticed two Zipcars parked in their brand new parking spots. These are two of the 10 cars that will ultimately be available in downtown Tacoma.

A Zipcar membership will get you access to not only the 10 cars planned to be stationed in Tacoma, but to Zipcar’s fleet of 11,000 cars in the U.S., Cananda, and the U.K. Gas, reserved parking spots, insurance, roadside assistance and up to 180 miles per day are included in the hourly and daily Zipcar rates.

The cars have been available at Tacoma universities for a while now, but Zipcar is stepping up its presence and visibility in downtown. The business rates seem like a particularly good deal, and we’re glad to see yet another transportation option in Tacoma. We’re excited.

So, who’s signing up today?
