Celebrate Earth Day for a Month or a Lifetime

The City of Tacoma’s Office of Environmental Policy & Sustainability invites residents to go beyond Earth Day, coming up on Tuesday, April 22, to enjoy a month of events or maybe even begin an exploration that could last a lifetime.
Residents can find a calendar of celebration and learning opportunities being offered by the community, for the community, throughout the Month of April. Visit cityoftacoma.org/EarthMonth to find events like a native plant walk at Adrian Hess Wetland Park, La Push Beach clean-up and BBQ or free EnviroHouse backyard chickens workshop.
For those ready to make a larger commitment, the City of Tacoma is inviting participation in Northwest Earth Institute discussion courses. The courses help people explore their relationship with the planet and new ways to live, work and consume over four to eight sessions. Potential topics range from food consumption or lifestyle simplification to environmental values or workplace sustainability. The City will pay $15 of the normally $15 to $25 cost for the first 45 participants. Those interested may use an online survey to help City staff select courses and times.
Tacoma’s Office of Environmental Policy & Sustainability develops, promotes and implements sustainable practices through education, community partnerships and performance management. Tacoma is a 4-STAR sustainable community.
