Crafts of the Past Visiting Artisan Program
During the next five months, guests of Fort Nisqually Living History Museum will get a close encounter with the creativity of daily life in the 1800s when the popular Crafts of the Past program returns for a third year.
Each weekend from May 3 through September 28 a different artist will be “in-residence” at the Fort with displays and demonstrations of their work. Most will also offer guests the opportunity to try the craft themselves.
Cannons to Boom for Queen Victoria’s Birthday at Fort Nisqually
Visitors to Fort Nisqually Living History Museum can relive the festivities of Queen Victoria's birthday in the mid-1800s.
Musket volleys, bagpipes and cannons abounded when Hudson’s Bay Company forts across North American celebrated this workers' holiday. Join fort re-enactors with the playing of bagpipes, sipping of birthday toasts, playing of children’s games and other gaiety. All buildings will be open and re-enactors in period clothes will be on hand to answer questions, and maybe even teach the British rules for croquet.
