Changes coming to northbound I-5 in Tacoma

Beginning Saturday, April 2, drivers will notice a shift in the northbound Interstate 5 lanes near the Puyallup River Bridge. On Friday night, April 1, crews plan to restripe the lanes toward the highway median onto a newly-paved area. Realigning the lanes will create a new work zone as crews build new HOV lanes on northbound I-5 as well as a new bridge over the Puyallup River.
9 p.m. Friday, April 1
• Drivers can expect single, double and triple-lane closures on northbound I-5 at 9 p.m., 11 p.m. and 11:59 p.m., respectively. All lanes will reopen by 9 a.m. Saturday, April 2, in a noticeably realigned configuration. Drivers are urged to pay extra attention when traveling through the area.
This work was originally scheduled to occur Saturday night but was rescheduled to occur a night earlier on Friday.
