Citizens for a Health Bay Executive Director Sets Retirement Date

Tacoma, Washington—The Board of Directors of Citizens for a Health Bay announced today that Executive Director Bill Anderson will retire effective March 20, 2015 after six years in the position.

“It has been an amazing honor to represent such an important and respected organization. CHB’s staff and board members are the most dedicated and talented people I’ve ever had the opportunity to work with,” Anderson commented, “I am very grateful to have had the chance to contribute to CHB’s 25 year legacy of protecting our waters and habitat.”

“Bill has provided CHB with superb leadership and we will miss him,” stated Kathleen Hasselblad, CHB Board Chair, “We owe him a tremendous debt of gratitude for leaving the organization stronger than he found it and for his dedicated service to the greater Commencement Bay community. We wish him well in his retirement and welcomed his assistance with the transition to a new Executive Director.”

Citizens for a Health Bay has a 25-year history of working side-by-side with local citizens, other non-profit groups, businesses and government to help clean up, restore and protect Commencement Bay, one of the first Super Fund sites in the country. CHB programs include habitat restoration, bay patrol and derelict vessel prevention, pollution reporting, business environmental compliance assistance, partnering on local cleanup activities, and community education and outreach programs.

The CHB Board of Directors will conduct a national search to fill the Executive Director position and is working with Anderson and the staff on the interim administration and hiring process. The job announcement and application requirements are posted on the CHB website: www.healthybay.org
