City of Tacoma Recognized Across North America for Budget Presentation

The City of Tacoma's Office of Management & Budget has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting, and it reflects the City’s commitment to excellence. This is the first time the City has received this award.

In order to receive the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, the City had to satisfy defining benchmarks that assessed how well its budget served as:

• A policy document
• A financial plan
• An operations guide
• A communications device

Submissions must excel in all four categories to receive the award.

"We've worked hard to enhance the way we do things at the City in support of our City Council's priorities,” said City Manager T.C. Broadnax. “As the City progresses on this path of better fiscal health, we remain deeply committed to the idea that we are responsible not only for ensuring that our entire budgeting process is transparent to the community we serve, but also for continuing to improve and refine the way we measure our performance."
