Clover Park Technical College Welcomes 3,600+ Students at 14th Annual Career Conference

LAKEWOOD, Wash. – More than 3,600 area middle school and high school students will explore career options at Clover Park Technical College’s Career Conference Thursday, May 8 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The annual open house event, which is open to the public, will take place at the Lakewood campus. For four hours the college’s faculty and staff will showcase all 40 of CPTC’s programs with demonstrations, activities and workshops to encourage visitors to think about post-high school plans and career training opportunities.

“Visitors will get to see a variety of career choices,” said Janet Holm, outreach coordinator at CPTC. “They get to see and experience something they would have never thought about before. They get a whole different perspective of what they can do in college.”

With the theme “Picture Your Path at CPTC,” the more than 20 “selfie” stations set up throughout campus will give prospective students the chance to picture themselves in future career fields of interest.

The event includes several interactive activities like the 22nd Annual People’s Choice Car and Bike Show, career workshops led by faculty and students and hands-on demonstrations.

Health science programs and industry partners are part of the event’s Health Care Fair, and the CPTC aerospace programs from the South Hill campus and partners will head up the Aerospace and Advanced Manufacturing Fair for the second year.
