Community Invited to Help Shape the Future of the Tacoma Mall Neighborhood

The City of Tacoma is developing a Subarea Plan for the Tacoma Mall Neighborhood. This 485-acre area was designated by the City and the Puget Sound Regional Council as a focus for jobs and housing growth.

Over the next year, the project team will work closely with members of the community to develop a vision, goals and strategies for the area. These plans will be used to guide growth while promoting the neighborhood’s distinct qualities, such as sense of place, livability, transportation choices and sustainability. An area-wide Environmental Impact Statement will also be created, and detailed steps needed to complete the project will be decided.

There are several ways to get involved:

Attend a Community Meeting

On Aug. 26, from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. at the Madison School Complex (3101 S. 43rd St.) the City will host a Community Meeting to discuss the project and invite stakeholder and community participation.

Join a Stakeholders Group

The City is organizing a Community Stakeholders Group and a Technical Stakeholders Group to guide the development of the Plan. Contact project staff for more information.
