Overnight ramp closure Jan. 29 at Tacoma Narrows Bridge

Nighttime drivers planning to cross the eastbound Tacoma Narrows Bridge should plan for a ramp closure Friday, Jan. 29 as crews repair toll equipment. 

Crews will close the 24th Street Northwest on-ramp at 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 29. Drivers can use the Otto Jahn Road on-ramp to access eastbound State Route 16 before the bridge. The 24th Street Northwest on-ramp will reopen by 5 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 30. 

I-5 Tacoma ramp, lane closures for HOV projects

Friday, Jan. 29

• I-705 on-ramps to northbound I-5 and southbound SR 7 will close from 12:01 a.m. to 5 a.m. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. 

Monday, Feb. 1 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound State Route 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Tuesday, Feb. 2
• Southbound I-5 exit to southbound State Route 7 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Wednesday, Feb. 3 

• Southbound I-5 exit to southbound SR 7 will close from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Thursday, Feb. 4 

• South 38th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 7 will close from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. the following day. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following morning. 

Friday, Feb. 5 

• South 38th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 7 will close from 12:01 a.m. to 6 a.m. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound I-5 will close from 11:59 p.m. to 4 a.m. the following day. 

• East 28th Street on-ramp to northbound SR 167 will close from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. the following morning. 

Around-the-clock closure: 

• Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to northbound Interstate 705 will close around-the-clock from 11 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, to 5 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8. 

Weekend night closures:
Northbound I-5 collector/distributor exit to southbound SR 7 will close the following hours: 

• 3 p.m. Friday, Feb. 5, to 9 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 6; 

• 11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 6, to 10 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 7. 

Overnight ramp closures for State Route 512 planned in Parkland

Drivers who use the State Route 7/Pacific Avenue ramps to and from State Route 512 may encounter overnight ramp closures during the week of Jan. 25. The ramp closures are necessary so contractor crews working for the Washington State Department of Transportation can continue to install infrastructure related to ramp meters and other intelligent transportation systems (ITS) devices. 

Drivers are advised to give themselves extra time and use alternate routes. 

Closure specifics 

Friday, Jan. 29 and Saturday, Jan. 30
• The SR 7/Pacific Avenue/108th Street on-ramp to westbound SR 512 and the exit to SR 7/Pacific Avenue from westbound SR 512 will close from 9 p.m. to 12 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30. 

• From 12:30 a.m. to 5 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 30, the SR 7/Pacific Avenue/108th Street South on-ramp to westbound SR 512 will close. 

Alternate route for eastbound SR 16 drivers going to northbound I-5

Tired of backups on eastbound SR 16 heading toward northbound I-5? Try this alternate route, which uses the SR 7 U-turn at South 38th Street.  We've clocked it, and when backups at the merge are heavy this will take you about half the time! Just make sure that as you're heading up the hill on SR 7, take the route to South 38th Street east (not west).
