DuPont Historical Society and Museum to celebrate Hudson Bay Heritage Days August 15-17, 2014

The DuPont Historical Society, DuPont History Museum, and the DuPont Tourism Board will sponsor the 9th Annual Hudson Bay Heritage Days weekend August 15-17 in DuPont. The schedule of events for the weekend will be as follows:
Friday, August 15: 8:30am – 3:00pm
- Hudson Bay Heritage Day Golf Tournament at The Home Course (Auction; Prizes; BBQ)
Saturday, August 16: 9:00am – 4:30pm
- ONAway 5k Run at Powder Works Park (benefit for Veterans suffering from PTSD)
- Family Heritage Workshops at DuPont Community Center (Guest speakers; Dee Haviland Fournier - Heritage Quest Research Library; Nancy Covert – Lakewood Author and Journalist; and Dorothy Wilhelm – Tacoma News Tribune Columnist )
- Ice Cream Social at DuPont Community Center (3:00pm – 4:00pm)
Sunday, August 17: 12 noon to 4:00pm
- Volksmarch to Wilkes Observatory – 5k & 10k Walk (9:00am to 12 noon – Free)
- Salmon BBQ $15 Adults; ($5 Children 12 & Under; $5 Hot Dog Plate)
- Guided Tours to the Historic 1843 site
- Live Music by Pinniped
- Kid’s Activities and much more!
History: The Hudson Bay Company built Ft. Nisqually in DuPont in 1843 near the Sequalitchew Creek as a trading post and an agricultural center. The Hudson Bay Company employed many nationalities including Native Americans, Hawaiians, French, Scots, and Americans.
